with Katrina Rap - “Broken Levee!”
Other Programs Gearing Up to Compete
With $500 on the line for September, YDRF Peer Support Workers (PSWs) kicked off the Strength of a Nation II Competition with a hot track about the New Orleans Tragedy titled – Broken Levee. YDRF PSWs Jon, Joaquin, and Matt joined forces with Nathan LeBlanc (a New Orleans resident who came to Maryland to live with his uncle Ed. DeJesus after Katrina). With Matt’s production talents, the donation of studio time by a local MD studio, and the lyrical skills of the YDRF PSWs, the artists put together a hot track to tell their side of the Katrina Tragedy. “We did the track in order to express our feelings about went down in New Orleans,” stated YDRF PSW Jon Hardy. Check it out on YDRF.com (lyrics available). Also, download the lesson plan and use the song with to discuss this very important issue with students.
