Strength of a Nation Vol. 1

Track: 10
Title: Gansgta’s Story
Artist: 2 Face

Chorus
I’ll tell you a story of how change came before me
I’ll tell you of glory a real live gansta’s story

So it all began Nottingham on a cold fall morning
I’ll rap and face the world on this cold fall morning
new life barely dawning and everything thing was new
it was my age of innocence and so everything as true
and no gray skies fully blue before the moment
no clue to what lie ahead cause who knew what would lie a head
lay nesting in my cradle bed and like most babies
when I’m fed release the scream that’s loud enough to wake the dead
new settings in the way I seen ya know before told and god bless it
I was infested with the self from days over soon it’s
hot turned to cold and love turns to hate
and what’s new becomes old and 2 turns to 8
when I recognize my fate and realized the iron gate had surrounded us
like the city impounded us in front of us all guilty of a crime yet committed
and at the top of my young mind it was hard for me to get it
but now I get it

Chorus

Now it’s past to present and present to past
My early teens was surrounded by fiends with broken dreams
and broken schemes for doe is thinking cream for blow astounding
Seems as though it’s just no other way
My first day of Jr. High I started a trend
Either you hustle or you muscle or you got no friends
So as quickly as time flew how quickly my mind grew
From petty crimes to thuggin corners slinging quarters and dimes
Explain my fascination with crime it got me in a state of mind
Of what’s mine is mine and what’s yours we takin
With a nine and baking soda fiendin for Range Rovers and Bentleys
Up off the 8th grade a --- was made I’m lawless
Kicks flawless fresh Jordan’s brand new
Drop socks had drop some c-notes for my whole crew
What you expect me to do since I rarely get any class
and rarely get any mass give a --- about rules or glory
my ghetto story floodin blocks getting bigger
talking glocks bussing shots puffin smoke drinkin ---
we figure this was all the end with shots penetrating the Benz
I figure this is where my nightmare begins

Chorus

“Come here son it’s time to go”
I’m hearing voices unfamiliar it’s too sick to buss at my killers
For a moment think I’m fine strange sensation in my spine
The pain lingers I’m loosing all the feeling in my fingers
“It’s a crime”
against who --- not you again
I don’t recall hearing form you when I needed a true friend
“Well here I am and here I’ve always been”
Yeah and here I am loosing pints of blood and you preaching about sin
Hospital rush me in it was ironic
in this case was the same place as the --- who started
Now feeling kinda drowsy and my heart rate lousy
When the Dr. yelled out code blue I knew I was thru
Slippin in and out of conscious state and it’s hard for me to make out
The faces that surrounded me wishing that I could break out
“It’s time”
but not mine not this not now
“Let it go”
I wish I could don’t want to but how Lord
If I should go let me go like a man but lord I just don’t know
It’s too hard to understand how could this be your plan
when Pops hit the road when I was 8 and the ghetto make me a product of hate
so if forgiveness is your name would this all change
about to return these expensive things chains watches and rings
revenge for my sins to back to new things
“Yes child I’ll give you life but you’ll never walk again!”

Chorus
