Indianapolis Youth Engagement Institute
Thursday September 28, 2006: 8:30-4:30 At the Indianapolis Youth Engagement Institute (IYEI), you will learn proven and innovative techniques to improve youth engagement through the use of YDRF's Youth Cultural Competence (YCC) method: the active use of youth involvement, youth popular culture and positive peer influence to promote workforce and educational achievement. Youth advocates can spend the day with Tonie Jackson, one of YDRF's lead training specialist, as he spotlights how to effectively get the message across about the importance of education and work experience, especially education and putting a dollar figure on their education. YCC is a revolution in empowering youth programs. It's an entirely new method of having programs effectively connect with youth and then using youth to produce more positive program outcomes for their peers and programs alike.

Greetings!

Hear Edward DeJesus, YDRF President and Founder at one of the upcoming Conferences. Join the YDRF team and learn more about Youth Cultural Competence and ways to use it to improve youth engagement and retention.

It tells a story of inspiration, heartache and what it takes to help young adults make it beyond the streets. DeJesus speaks about the importance of positive peer groups, positive caring adults, genuine opportunities to work and learn, and the need for supportive organizations (the social protectors) in the lives of all youth.
